There are misconception among cellphone owner about what is safer. There are a couple of articles that suggest some way to avoid radiation. They mention about how expert have warn people about cellphone radiation. Notice that the solution usually do not came from the expert. Sometimes the suggestion can even be more risky than it original is.

Speakerphone

Many suggest the use of speaker phone to reduce the radiation. The problem is, you still have to hold it with your hand. If radiation really is dangerous, they can also travel trough your blood. It will reach your head eventually. You still not completely safe.

Wired headset

Electromagnetic wave will propagate trough metal conductor. For wired headset to function it must contain metal conductor. When you use wired headset the cellphone will transmit audio signal and also electromagnetic radiation. Wired headset wire will also act as antenna, transmitting electromagnetic radiation on it's wire surface. By it's nature, electromagnetic radiation can go trough wire isolation. Wired headset do not protect you from radiation, it will make it worse.

Bluetooth headset

It is said in the article that bluetooth has much less radiation than cellphone. But this has also been said by cellphone manufacturer. Cellphone has been said to has much less radiation than microwave, TV/radio tower, or even sun. But now they say bluetooth is safe. How do we sure that those 100 times less radiation still not dangerous to us? Would you drink a poison that has 10000 times less concentration from what strong enough to kill people? I would not. It would still kill you at eventually

Hollow tube earpiece

Even if you wear this, you still has to put the cell phone somewhere close to your body isn't it? And remember that the earpiece wire has also become electromagnetic transmitter.

Phone with less radiation

Different phone will have the same radiation if they connect to the same base station. Phone will increase the electromagnetic radiation just enough to connect to the nearest network. SAR value indicate the maximum radiation that the phone can emit, this is the probability of the phone still being connected to network if nearest network tower is far away. Phone do not emit maximum radiation all the time. Getting phone with less radiation will make you get a phone that has more probability of being disconnected from network.

Phone shielding holster

Shielding do not reduce cell phone radiation. Cell phone will increase radiation if something prevent them from being connected to network. Covering the cell phone with shield will actually increase the radiation because the cell phone will try harder to connect to the network. The shield will also act as electromagnetic transmitter too.

Avoid using phone on vehicle

Using phone on train or car will increase radiation because the enclosed metal will bounce back the electromagnetic wave. The metal barrier will make the cell phone try harder to connect to network and thus made them transmit to their maximum power. Long distance from base station will also make them work at max radiation.

Avoid using phone on building

Building absorb electromagnetic signal, while metal reflect them. Both make cell phone harder to connect to network. Both will make cell phone attempt to transmit more electromagnetic radiation. Metal will reflect the electromagnetic radiation from the phone back to you.

Banning kid from using phone

This may be a good solution. But also notice what sort of electronics exist in your house. Do you have laptop with wifi capability or wireless internet access? Do you have microwave oven? Do your house located near cell phone network tower? Do you have electronic pest control? Do you have printer with blue tooth capability? We may not be able to avoid the trend of stuffing our house with more and more electronics.

Don't fear cellphone radiation too much. Human body has excellent capability to adapt to unfavored condition. What you need to do is to make your family healthy, naturally if possible.
